First Day of School 2013

August 22, 2013 the first day school it is crazy how fast summer goes by.  The kids were excited to start school this year.  Wyatt is in 5th grade his last year in elementary.  He has Mr. Maughan this year and has a couple good friends in his class hopefully will be a great year for him.
Wyatt had to get glasses for school this year.

Shay is starting 3rd grade with Mrs. S. Anderson she is super excited, was so excited to wear her sparkly pink shoes the first day of school.  They match her personality!

Clint and Cole start kindergarten this year too.  They will do school all day part day kindergarten and part day Special Ed.  I am a little worried about that - but we will see how it goes.

They have to eat lunch at school and all I can say to that is good luck to the aides.
Aunt Rach got them their cute barn lunch boxes.

Boating Fun

Our friend Layne and Tricia Merritt invited us to go over to Hyrum Dam and go boating with them.  Nate had some work to do but me and Wyatt and Shay could not pass up the invitation!  My kids love to ride the tube and have been so excited to go all summer.  Layne is so great- none of their kids really wanted to ride the tube so he pulled my kids around for hours.  I think they could live on a lake- Wyatt said he is going to save up his money to buy a boat- good luck with that-  We had a great time I even rode the tube a couple of times my kids love to go fast- Wyatt was giving the faster sign all the time.

FASTER

Every time the boat stopped Wyatt, Shay and James loved just swimming in the water.

Max would not get in the water but loved riding in the boat.

Fair Week

Fair Week is always a big deal in our family I am sad to say we are kinda fair bums and spend way to much time there.  The week before the fair the kids had to work to get their sheep all ready to show, Bathing them, shearing them and walking ahh we were all counting down the days tell we do not have to get up early and walk the sheep for a mile every morning.

I love this photo!  Wyatt had to wear these
glasses because he had to go for an eye appt.
earlier that day and had his eyes dilated. the gloves
because he hates to touch his sheep

It is crazy to think those dirty things turn into these with just a little bit of work.

This year Wyatt has really struggled with his sheep and really does not like to to do as parents we have made him put in the work and do even though it has been a fight most days.  I guess some could say child abuse- I say character building he needs to be responsible and learn sometimes you have to do things that are hard.  I don't know what is right but I am glad we survived the week.

Thurday -

Wyatt had to show both his sheep Mario and Lugi those are the names he decided on when I would not let him name them stupid and idiot-  Both his sheep got blue ribbons Mario is the darker on and he is a lot wilder Wyatt had a hard time getting him to mind but he does great with Lugi.   This picture about sums up how he feels about showing sheep.  He was so lucky and had lots of fun cousins show up to support him- I wish I would have got a photo of his great cheering section.

After the sheep show the kids stayed and played at the fair the rest of the day.  They had carnival passes and rode rides and played in the river with their cousins all day.  I left and took Clint and Cole home, they were not feeling great and did not want them in the heat so did not get any photos of the rest of the day.

Friday

Wyatt and Shay both had to show their sheep for fitting and showing.  Shay just did PeeWee show with Brody and Emmy Thatcher.  She loves her sheep and has fun showing it.

Wyatt had a lot better day on Friday he did such a good job showing his lamb he tried so hard to set it up and watch the judge. I was really proud of him for trying so hard.  He got a blue ribbon for fitting and showing.

Then after the sheep show we walked around to see all the kids other stuff they had entered in the fair.

They both entered pigeons and Chickens Shay was excited she won a trophy this year on her pigeon.  They both entered Vegtables too.  They got lots of ribbons Shay got a purple ribbon on her golden chokecherries.  Ya this too made Wyatt mad Shay getting a trophy and grand prize - Ahh I try to tell my kids life is not fair.  They better get use to that.

Then Saturday the sale- Wyatt is so glad to sell his sheep no tears for him except tears of joy!

Wyatt sold Lugi for $400 with was so great I wish I would have got the smile on his face when he realized how much he made.    He got a huge smile!  I guess he gets to keep Mario for a momma sheep in case we can talk him into doing this again next year- we shall see?  The kids also came home with lots of ribbon money not a bad paycheck for a week at the fair.

Provo Trip

Nate had some meetings in Provo so we decided to make a mini vacation out of it.  Wednesday afternoon we headed down and met some friends at seven peaks and swam for the night it was super fun.  Even Clint and Cole had fun on the slides but they mostly just floated around the lazy river while me and Nate took turns going on slides with the older kids.  Then we stayed at hotel.  Thursday morning Nate got up and headed to meetings I got the kids up and fed Cole and then while I was feeding Clint - Cole took a tumble off the bed! Ahh he cried much more the usual for him so I got a little worried and called Nate and had him meet us down at breakfast to check out Cole.  We decided we thought his arm needed to be checked out so we went to the hospital and spent the morning in the Emergency Room turns out he has a broken wrist.  He was still happy he was laughing during ex-rays and when they were putting his splint on- then on Monday he will go get a cast on.
before
after

After the hospital visit we went back to hotel and Wyatt and Shay swam for a bit and then got packed up and we met our friends again for a fun day at Trafalga.  It is nice that when Nate is in meeting me and the kids have some friends to hang out with.  We met Jess and her 5 boys- yes she has her hands full and Shay always feels way out numbered but we have a great time with them

After Trafalga we went and picked up Nate and headed up Provo Canyon for a cook out.  Then after dinner we drove up to Bridal Veil Falls.  It was so pretty we had never been there before.  So I waited in the car with Cole and Clint and Nate, Wyatt, and Shay hiked up to the falls.  They thought it was pretty great.  Then we headed for home.  It was a quick little trip but is great that Nates work provides these great little get aways.
