Fair Week

Fair Week is always a big deal in our family I am sad to say we are kinda fair bums and spend way to much time there.  The week before the fair the kids had to work to get their sheep all ready to show, Bathing them, shearing them and walking ahh we were all counting down the days tell we do not have to get up early and walk the sheep for a mile every morning.

I love this photo!  Wyatt had to wear these
glasses because he had to go for an eye appt.
earlier that day and had his eyes dilated. the gloves
because he hates to touch his sheep

It is crazy to think those dirty things turn into these with just a little bit of work.

This year Wyatt has really struggled with his sheep and really does not like to to do as parents we have made him put in the work and do even though it has been a fight most days.  I guess some could say child abuse- I say character building he needs to be responsible and learn sometimes you have to do things that are hard.  I don't know what is right but I am glad we survived the week.

Thurday -

Wyatt had to show both his sheep Mario and Lugi those are the names he decided on when I would not let him name them stupid and idiot-  Both his sheep got blue ribbons Mario is the darker on and he is a lot wilder Wyatt had a hard time getting him to mind but he does great with Lugi.   This picture about sums up how he feels about showing sheep.  He was so lucky and had lots of fun cousins show up to support him- I wish I would have got a photo of his great cheering section.

After the sheep show the kids stayed and played at the fair the rest of the day.  They had carnival passes and rode rides and played in the river with their cousins all day.  I left and took Clint and Cole home, they were not feeling great and did not want them in the heat so did not get any photos of the rest of the day.

Friday

Wyatt and Shay both had to show their sheep for fitting and showing.  Shay just did PeeWee show with Brody and Emmy Thatcher.  She loves her sheep and has fun showing it.

Wyatt had a lot better day on Friday he did such a good job showing his lamb he tried so hard to set it up and watch the judge. I was really proud of him for trying so hard.  He got a blue ribbon for fitting and showing.

Then after the sheep show we walked around to see all the kids other stuff they had entered in the fair.

They both entered pigeons and Chickens Shay was excited she won a trophy this year on her pigeon.  They both entered Vegtables too.  They got lots of ribbons Shay got a purple ribbon on her golden chokecherries.  Ya this too made Wyatt mad Shay getting a trophy and grand prize - Ahh I try to tell my kids life is not fair.  They better get use to that.

Then Saturday the sale- Wyatt is so glad to sell his sheep no tears for him except tears of joy!

Wyatt sold Lugi for $400 with was so great I wish I would have got the smile on his face when he realized how much he made.    He got a huge smile!  I guess he gets to keep Mario for a momma sheep in case we can talk him into doing this again next year- we shall see?  The kids also came home with lots of ribbon money not a bad paycheck for a week at the fair.
